The Return of the Battery

Wednesday, February 15th, 2006 @ 11:32am

…one week later. So I have a test in my Art 200 class today, and planned on leaving a little early so I could show up and have a few minutes of review study. So I go out to my car, and you can probably take a guess at what’s happened. Nothing.

So now I have to get my car taken to the shop on the worst possible day of the week. I just hope it’s fixed pretty soon, because I have a test tomorrow night so I either need to find rides here and back or get a car from my parents until I get it fixed.

Snow Day

Monday, February 13th, 2006 @ 12:00am

I must admit, the title is somewhat misleading considering I didn’t actually see any snow but we stood a pretty good chance of actually getting snow today, with as cold as the weather was.

Went home for a little while today and got my taxes filed early for once, along with completing the last FASFA I should have to ever do for myself. After that, I came home and watched some of the olympics. Watching the snowboarding halfpipe reminded me how much I’ve missed snowboarding this year. My family usually goes out to Snow Shoe, WV every year, although it was really a tough year for finances this year so we couldn’t really afford to go. Although, I might consider it for spring break if my finances are good, the weather is good, and I can find a decent spring break deal.

The Battery

Thursday, February 9th, 2006 @ 10:19am

So yesterday was just one of those days. I had left band slightly early so I could try to make my lessons on time on the other side of town. So I walk out to my car and try to unlock, and it won’t unlock with the keyless entry, so I just assume the batteries in the key unit are dead. So I manually unlock my door, and put the keys in the ignition and try to crank and nothing happens. No lights, the engine doesn’t turn over nothing. I figure, no problem since I can get a jumpstart and be on my way. Jeremy was busy with a lesson at the time so I called Mike to come help jumpstart me. So we were outside for around 30 minutes unsuccessfully trying to jumpstart my car.

It gets better. So then I pick up my phone to call my student to let them know I won’t be able to make it, but my screen was dead. Completely black. I couldn’t make any outgoing calls unless I already knew the number. So Jeremy finally finishes with his lesson and I call him to make sure I can get a ride back if I can’t get started. So then I call campus safety as a last resort, and they were somehow finally able to get my engine going, but by this time it’s 6pm and my students are by now 30 minutes away so there’s no way I could make it. So now I had to go home and find some sort of software that would allow me to pull everything from my phone, my contacts, ringtones, everything so that I can hopefully transfer it to a new phone.

I think my mouse batteries are dead too. What’s next?

Winter Finally Arrives

Wednesday, February 8th, 2006 @ 10:32am

Well, it’s that time of year again. Winter has finally come and made it’s impact in Alabama, and it’s only February. This week highs will be in the low 40s with lows anywhere from low 20s to even in the teens possible. Maybe we’ll actually see snow sometime soon, a phenomenon I haven’t seen happen here in Alabama for quite a while now.

Yesterday, there was apparently a fire in Russel (the computer science building) and no, it wasn’t a drill. Someone happened to blow up their lunch in the microwave, or something along those lines. It made me late to class, considering that my books were on the inside, I was on the outside, and my class was halfway across campus.

Another Uneventful Weekend

Saturday, February 4th, 2006 @ 11:49pm

Ahh… finally all but one of my books have arrived. I can actually accomplish things at school now! We had another pep-band game as well today, I think I’m finally somewhat getting the hang of the sax! I’m still missing a few notes here and there, but for the most part it’s getting a little easier.

Rick came over and visited us again today. As much as he’s been over here, I think we should start making him pay rent. I’m sure Jeremy could loan out his closet, there’s enough room for a bed in there. Unfortunately, I couldn’t join in the fun because I had to do homework since my books finally arrived. Oh well…

Late Night Code Junkie

Thursday, February 2nd, 2006 @ 1:35am

I sure I’m probably going to regret this in the morning. But I’ve been working on the comments script for a few hours now and I believe I have most everything working as I had originally planned. Now your emails will no longer be listed, but rather your username should now point to your website, blog or whatever. Also, your login name and username should be two different things now as well.

However, I need those of you who have registered to do me a favor. Go to the comments page (any one is fine) and modify your profile making sure to update your name, and your website address. Please let me know when you have done so by replying to this post so I can debug yet even more and make sure everything is working. Off to bed now… Zzzz….

You will be sucked in…

Wednesday, February 1st, 2006 @ 11:02pm

…there is no resisting!

So I went to go teach today and my student’s piano is a whole half-step lower than it should be! I tried playing my Gershwin, but it just sounded so wrong on that piano. I’m also waiting on my school books as well, only one has arrived and it’s been one I haven’t needed yet. Sometimes the postal service is so annoying…

In Other News…

Wednesday, January 25th, 2006 @ 12:28am

School starts today.

But in other news, I finally updated my projects page with various projects I have done as of recently. Let me know what you think.

Also, some of you have mentioned to me about having to register to make comments. Sorry about that, but I’ll look into that and see if I can get it to change or not and get back to you on that.

War, what is it good for?

Sunday, January 22nd, 2006 @ 12:17pm

So my brother and I played paintball yesterday with his church, and today I might be regretting that. I’m slightly sore in the legs and have a few welts, but I suppose it’s okay, I had fun at any rate. I also got to see Gabe Smith, a good friend of mine a few years ago from Teenpact, and gladly sent a few paintballs his way, although I payed for it later of course. ;)

Today is also the unofficial start of school for me. Band camp starts today, then tomorrow I go down to Perry County with one of my computer science professors to help with their computer situation. Tuesday is band camp again, then finally Wednesday is the official start of school. But in any case, I should have a few interesting “band camp” stories to tell if you’re willing to hang around for a few days.
