Spring Break

Tuesday, March 21st, 2006 @ 6:36pm

So here I am on the Tuesday of my spring break logging in from Starbucks high atop Snowshoe Mountain. The skiing has been somewhat okay so far, although it really starts to get icy near the end of the day. We got maybe 1/2″ of snow this morning, but not really enough to make a difference on skiing conditions. Silver Creek is closed for the season sadly, especially considering with the new terrain park elements they built all over the slopes. Oh well, maybe I’ll get to see it next year. It’s a shame we didn’t get that snow that dropped on Lincoln, Nebraska… It’s really pretty up here now, and they’ve added quite a few new buildings since we came here last year.

I’d take pictures, but alas I am without a decent camera. So you’ll just have to use your imagination at best. Until next time…

Important Event

Cake for RickSo we had Rick’s birthday party this past Monday, and I hope he enjoyed everything. Jeremy had ordered an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen, which he was trying to get them to put Jeff Gordon on the front since Rick likes Nascar, and consequently likes Jeff Gordon as well. However, apparently due to licensing issues they couldn’t actually put the number 24 on the car, but for some strange reason they could still make it look like Jeff Gordon’s car and even put Dupont on the front… like you couldn’t figure out what it was anyway. But here’s to you Rick, I hope you had a happy 19th birthday, enjoy your Seinfield!

So today half of my classes got cancelled as well. So I only had Japanese Class from 6-8 today so I got a lot of time to catch up on a lot of projects I missed out from the past two weeks. I also got my hair cut as well, although I’m not sure what to think of it at the moment. It’s really a lot shorter than I normally have it and it just doesn’t look like me at all. But I suppose it’ll grow out again with time.

Reflections

So I’m currently on Wind Ensemble tour at the moment. I’ve had a great time so far, even though I’ve been fighting allergy issues the whole trip. I hope I haven’t disturbed too many people although I might have kept up my roommates with my sniffing at night.

Anyway, tonight we had our so called “senior moment”. Basically, everyone just sat around while we listened to the seniors in band talk about their experience of being in band, and how they felt about their experiences. This has really made me think about my future as well, and what I want to do as well. I really only have one more year of college left before I finally have to go out into the real world and be facing a lot of things I’m not quite ready for. I wish I could spend more time in college, I really do enjoy some of my classes, the people I spend time with (especially band/music people). Sometimes I wonder if I’m really moving in the right direction with what I’m doing or not. It’s something I’ve been praying about a lot lately, and I really haven’t felt a strong direction with some things in my life. There’s been a lot going on right now, a lot of things I’m not sure I really know how to handle.

I don’t really want to bore you with details, but I suppose if you’re really interested you can always ask me. I might be willing to tell you.

The Return of the Band Trip

Wednesday, March 8th, 2006 @ 1:15am

So, here I am about to embark upon another uncharted mission into unknown territory. Yes, another band trip. Tomorrow afternoon we leave for Pell City to play at a church then finally off to Georgia, where we’ll be for the rest of our trip. Saturday, I believe we’ll be heading to Stone Mountain for the day. I’ll let you know how the trip goes in any case and if anything interesting happens.

Band Trip

Sunday, March 5th, 2006 @ 12:06pm

So the trip to Nashville and back was really exciting, and I had a really good time. Although, I think it might take a while for Zombie Nation to finally get out of my head with as many times as we played it. Sadly however, neither of the teams won the championship. The women’s team bowed out early in the semi-final round, while the men’s team won their semi-finals but lost to Murray State in the final game. Still, I think both of the teams stand a pretty good chance of coming back next year, so we’ll see what happens in that case!

The Finals

Wednesday, March 1st, 2006 @ 10:29am

So both the Men’s and Women’s basketball teams won this past Tuesday, so that means that we get to go to Nashville to play for both of the teams for the semi-finals. If either one of the teams wins on Friday, we get to stay for Saturday and play for the finals. So that pretty much is my weekend in a summary. I’m sure I’ll have a few interesting stories to bring back after the fact…
