It’s Just Me, Myself, and I…

Tuesday, May 30th, 2006 @ 7:43pm

So I’m pretty much here at the apartment by myself now for the summer. Jeremy’s headed off to London/Spain. Kevin is well… who knows where. I haven’t seen him in weeks. But it should prove to be an interesting summer though.

I did enjoy my weekend however. Cleaned the majority of the apartment Sunday afternoon for some reason. I should’ve cleaned my car, it’s awful! It still has dirt and bugs from driving back from Dothan. We went bowling that afternoon too, I think I got a 132 the first game, then a 139 the 2nd so I was fairly pleased.

Monday was a holiday, so I didn’t work. Enjoyed sleeping in, which is becoming even more rare these days. Brought Jeremy to the airport so he could fly off for the summer. Oh well. Came back and ate lunch, then hung out with Dana for the afternoon. Oh yeah, Clint if you’re reading this, we watched The Italian Job. It was a really good movie, I was quite impressed!

Also becoming a little more comfortable with my job too. I’m still undecided if it’s exactly what I want to do yet, but I’ll give it a little more time and let it settle in some.

What a Week…

Saturday, May 27th, 2006 @ 12:04pm

Wow. That’s all I have to say about this week. The first week of my first “job” is over, and it’s been quite a week. For those of you who don’t know, I recently just got a programming internship at Infinity Insurance and it’s been very interesting. It’s been somewhat of a rough start, since at the beginning it was really slow, but it’s getting better. I was given a sort of project on Thursday, so once I get a better handle on that I’m sure it’ll be a lot better.

But I’ll be working 8-4:30 for 5 days a week, and it’s a really nice paying job, and should get me a lot of java programming experience. Although, I’m not sure if programming is exactly what I want to do but I’ll have a better grasp on that at the end of the summer if it’s really what I want to get into.

Jeremy leaves for London next Monday, so I’ll pretty much be by myself at the apartment for the whole summer. My other roommate’s work schedule is at night, and I’m during the day, so I won’t see him… not like I really see him that much right now anyway…

Summer Begins

Saturday, May 20th, 2006 @ 1:56am

SkidooLet the summer begin! So to start off my summer I went down to Jeremy’s lakehouse with Jeremy and Rick for the weekend. We left from home yesterday and stopped for lunch in Montgomery. Got to Dothan, and had an excellent dinner, then watched Whose Line is it Anyway then watched a really silly movie.

Today we went to the lake, as shown by the picture above. Obviously, we rode a couple of jetskis, and had some fun on the water and goofed off for the most of the day. And I got plenty of pictures, although Jeremy already posted most of them on his blog. But anyway, look at my comments to see a few more of the pictures that we took.

One More Exam Left!

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006 @ 6:02pm

SadieWoohoo! Only my online exam for Dr. Toone’s class is left (I’m trying to put it off for as long as possible, because it will be hard). I finally got some of my grades in too. I’m not really all that happy about piano, but that’s another story within itself. 3 semesters with a B. Japanese on the other hand, I made a B in as well, so I’m not really complaining considering the hard time I had all semester. Just have to wait on my other computer science grades to come in to help my gpa…

Gee, what's up Ricky?Anyway, my camera came in today! As you can see by a few of the pictures in my post, I’ve been playing with my new “toy” so to speak. As you can see to the left, there’s well… Sadie. She looks so innocent in that picture, unlike Rick! I don’t really know what it is about Rick, but he always has the best facial expressions in photos. I’m not sure what he’s looking at. Who knows? With Rick, it’s always a guess. Someone should come up with captions for these pictures… I had some pictures of Kenny too, but he deleted them before I got a chance to save them. I’ll be using my camera a lot more now, so you can expect to see more pictures in the future.

School’s Out!

Monday, May 15th, 2006 @ 9:12pm

Woohoo! Schools out for summer! Only one more year to go… I still have a few finals to go, it’s not really a big deal. Piano juries are over, and that’s honestly the worst part of finals.

On to other news. Summer is looking good so far. I finally got a job! It pays well, and it’s right in the computer science field too. I also recently got a letter from Samford letting me know they’re giving me a small scholarship! It’s not much but hey, it’s better than anything I’ve had before so I can’t really complain.

Also my parents said they would chip in for a Camera for my birthday. So I just recently ordered a Canon Powershot S2 IS off of Amazon.com. So I’m waiting for that to come in… I’ll be sure to post some pictures once it comes in.

Also if you’re going to be in town this summer, let me know. I’ll probably be bored and looking for things to do (when I’m not working that is…)

Another Year…

Sunday, May 7th, 2006 @ 1:38pm

So, I suppose it’s probably a good time to post how my Birthday went.

But yeah, I had a pretty good Saturday. It started off somewhat uneventful though. Woke up in the morning and tried to go get my brakes fixed, but no one was really around. Jeremy had a wedding to attend, Rick was working, and other people were just as busy as well. So I eventially called Clint to come pick me up and take me to school.

At 1 o’clock went to Brian Dilk’s senior recital. He played a really good recital, although I’m going to be sad to see him go. We’re losing a lot of seniors in the music school this year, and it’s kind of odd too because I could be graduating with them too. Anyway, after the recital was over, I got Rick and Sadie to pick up my car. Thanks guys! After that, I vacuumed my car and practiced for piano juries. Nothing real exciting.

Finally, went to school and picked up Dana for dinner. Jeremy and Kenny met us at Surin. We had a good dinner, although I wish I hadn’t picked a night when half the music school was at a formal. But I had fun with everyone that was there. After dinner, we headed back to the apartment and as seems to be tradition now, lit a cake on fire. Thankfully, no injuries from the lighting of the cake this year. Afterwards, we started to watch a movie but it got sidetracked by Mentos and Pepsi. We had the idea that it would be cool to use glowsticks in a clear drink at night and see what the effect would be. Sadly, it didn’t work out as planned but we got some good pictures! (Which I’ll post later in my comments)

So to everyone who showed up last night, or even just wished me a happy birthday at school… Thanks! I did have enjoyable 22nd, and here’s to many more!

I’m Thankful For…

Thursday, May 4th, 2006 @ 2:56pm

I know this is kind of an odd thing. I put this blog up so I’d have a place to rant. Rant about things I don’t like, or what’s going on. So to break the mold, I’m going a completely different direction. Here are things that I’m happy are happening and glad to have…

I’m thankful that God has given me the opportunity to go to Samford. There have been times I’ve thought, “Hey, I could’ve gone somewhere else.” Sure, it would’ve been cheaper, I might even have gotten a scholarship or two. Sure, it’s been difficult here at Samford and I’ve had trying times. But I don’t think I could imagine life without being here at Samford. All of the friends here that I never would’ve met. All of the fun times, never had. For those of you that do read this, I’m glad I’ve had the opportunity to get to know each and every one of you. So many names to mention, I’m sure I could probably fill up several pages just of names. Some of you, I wish I could’ve gotten to know better. But to each and every one of you, thanks for putting up with me!

I’m thankful for the talents and interests God has provided. I don’t know what I would do without music and piano. Even if I’m not very good at it, I enjoy every bit of it. It’s such a stress reliever sometimes! I’m thankful for the interest in computers I have. It’s not often that there’s something you can do, and love to do, and make a living at it.

In closing, I’m thankful for a lot of things. In retrospect I realize I may be unsatisfied with certain situations. But I wouldn’t be where I am today without some of those things happen. I wouldn’t have the friends that I have, or know the people I know. Sure, I may not have accomplished things I might have planned, but hey, I still have a great future to look forward too!
