One year!

Thursday, October 26th, 2006 @ 1:00am

cupcakeI almost completely forgot. It passed over my mind in the busyness of school, but I’ve officially been blogging for over one year! So many things have happened in the past year that it’s hard to even recount all of them. But in the past year, I’ve posted 83 times along with some number of comments. Although, I will have to admit it’s been over a year and I still have yet to really finish the site (namely because I’m lazy, and lack of time too). So maybe before year two comes around, everything might actually be finished! You never know…

Spring Schedule 2007

Friday, October 13th, 2006 @ 1:40pm

I’m in a little bit of a dilemma. For all you Samford folks out there (or even you non-Samford folks) I’m trying to decide what classes to take in the spring. I pretty much have some classes set in stone, Senior Seminar for COSC, Artificial Intelligence, Japanese 202, Wind Ensemble, and Scuba Diving. That’s all fine and great, except that’s only about 13 hours. I still need one more science class, and one more upper level course (anything).

Now here’s my dilemma. For my upper level course, I’m split between taking University Chorale again or taking Class Woodwinds. The advantage of Class Woodwinds is that it’s only 2 days a week (M & W) while UC is 3 days a week with additional commitments. Although, Dr. Price is taking over UC so it would be pretty spiffy to have him as director. Any suggestions?

My other dilemma is over science. Now I’ve already taken Physical Geography, and Introduction to Computer Science won’t work either since COSC is already my major. I really wanted to take Astronomy, but it kind of conflicts with my Senior Seminar class, so unless I get Senior Seminar moved, Astronomy is out of the question. So my other options are: Scientific Methods, Animal Biology, Organic/General/Biological Chemistry, or General Physics. Out of those, I really don’t know what’s good (or who’s good for that matter) but would like something that’s at least not too difficult. If you’ve taken any of those classes or know someone who has, please post any suggestions or comments you might have via the comment link in the title of the post!

Ah-choo!

Friday, October 13th, 2006 @ 1:58am

I feel like I’ve been rambling a lot lately, but oh well…

I’ve had really bad allergies for the past month and a half now, and they won’t seem to go away. And it’s just driving me absolutely crazy. At least today, I’ve been sneezing all day so I’ve had to had a tissue, napkin, or something handy to sneeze into. Nothing I take seems to help (aside from an allergy shot that helped for a few days) so I think I’m going to go back to the doctor — again if things don’t improve pretty soon.

In All Randomness…

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006 @ 1:00am

Finally got to see a concert inside our new recital hall with the Samford Orchestra playing tonight. The acoustics of the place were really quite amazing. The softest softs could be heard very clearly, and the orchestra just had an overall great performance. I’ll be looking forward to our Christmas concert there with the Wind Ensemble in December.

I’m ready for fall break however. I don’t really have that many plans, other than my brother is coming into town. So we’ll do something. I’m just looking forward to having a little break even if it’s doing absolutely nothing.

I’ve also been considering what I want to do after I graduate as well… although I haven’t really decided. I’m pretty sure I want to stay here in Birmingham. It would be awesome if I could still live at the apartment that I’m currently living in now… I just need to find a good job to go along with it!

It’s Finished!

Monday, October 9th, 2006 @ 12:05pm

Woohoo! It’s about time. I’ve finally finished my Donaldson programming project (which I’ll probably post to here eventially). I can finally get a full nights sleep for once…

Having a Downer

Monday, October 9th, 2006 @ 1:50am

I don’t know why, things just don’t seem to be going that well for me lately or rather I don’t feel like it at least. Maybe it’s all the stress of projects, homework, and work. I don’t know… I can’t really explain it. It’s like I’m waiting for something to happen… and it’s not happening. Sometimes I just don’t know what to do really. I feel like I need someone to confide into, but I don’t know who and I really don’t know what I would say if I did. I guess for anyone that is actually reading this, please pray for me. I don’t know what quite for yet, but please do. All I know with if things keep going the way they are, something good is bound to happen soon enough, it’s just tough to see that while you’re in the valley.

Not Enough Time in the Day

Saturday, October 7th, 2006 @ 1:56pm

Augh. I just want to scream. I’m still working on the same project for Current Topics, although I’m actually finally nearing completion. I’m so close to finishing that it’s painful. I’ve literally worked on this thing all day with help from both Dr. Toone and Dr. Donaldson. I’ll just be glad to finally get this thing behind me and move on…

And to top it all off I’ve been fighting really horrible allergies for the past month or so and nothing I take really seems to help. The last time I went to the doctor, he gave me some sort of shot which made me feel great for a couple of days until it wore off. I think I just might go again if it doesn’t improve within the next week or two…

Late Night Rant

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006 @ 1:32am

I’m really frustrated right now. Argh. I’ve been working on this stupid project for current topics for quite a while and I feel like I’m making no progress… I’ve pretty much worked on it all day Saturday, Sunday, and today at least whenever I’ve had free time. I really am no where close to being finished and it’s due tomorrow. I’m just extremely angry and I don’t know what to do about it.

I’m thinking it may just be worth it to turn this thing in for partial credit rather than try and finish it now… It’s already 18 pages long of text so if that’s not worth something… then I don’t know what is!

Senioritis!

Sunday, October 1st, 2006 @ 10:06am

So I went bowling this past weekend (twice), once with Dana on Friday and once by myself on Saturday. I did pretty decently on Friday bowling an average of 130~140 or so, which is pretty normal for me. But it would figure on Saturday, when I was by myself that I bowled the best game I’ve ever bowled. For years, I’d been trying to break a score of 200, and I finally did it on my second game by hitting 211.

Anyway, I guess not too much exciting has really been going on. I finally got my car back, so I’m pretty happy about that. Although it’s making some strange noises now here and there so I’m not quite sure what to do about that.

I feel like I’m starting to have senioritis in a sense. To think that this is my last year of school kind of makes me sad. At times, school can really be frustrating, with all the homework, projects, and deadlines, yet I still really enjoy it. To think that I’m in my last year in college before I’m really out on my own, it’s quite a different feeling than anything I’ve had before…

And I just now happened to glance at the calendar on my computer. Is it really October already? It doesn’t feel like it should be October yet. The weather is still quite warm, and it feels like school has just started… Hard to believe it’s already been five weeks since.
